TweetFilm No. 12 – Planet of the Apes

“Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!”

It’s well known that here at TweetFilm headquarters, we’re big fans of science fiction. It may not be as well known that the founder of TweetFilm is also a big fan of apes. Especially the intelligent, world-dominant variety. Well, this month we get to tick both of those boxes with the original 1968 dystopian classic, Planet of the Apes.

Now, while it may seem ridiculous to do so, I’m going to avoid mentioning the big twist at the end of the film. Yes, that one, the one everyone knows about. Why? Because I know at least one person who has never seen it and has somehow never found out what it is, and they’re hopefully attending this month’s event. So let’s all pretend we have no idea what I’m talking about, ok?

Tuesday, March 13 – this hashtag will be a mad house! A MAD HOUSE!

And, for the second month in a row, we are proud to partner with Classic Comics to give away some Planet of the Apes comic books! The giveaway has already started on Twitter, all you need to do is follow @tweet_film and @ClassicComics and answer some simple Apes trivia to win. We’ll also be giving away a special prize on the night of the screening, donated by @AuctionFigures – a figure from the 2001 Tim Burton version of Planet of the Apes. There will also be extra comics to give away, and considering the screening is free, you actually stand to make a profit by coming along!

If you’re in Melbourne, the free screening will be at our usual venue of Loop, located at 23 Meyers Place in the CBD, at the Parliament end of Bourke St.

Not in Melbourne, or can’t get there but still want to take part? No problem! We’ll be synchronising our start time with timeanddate.com’s Melbourne page as usual, so you can take part at home. Read our how-to page for all the details.

So, to sum up…
Where: Loop, 23 Meyers Place, Melbourne / anywhere with a DVD player
When: Tuesday March 13, arrive from 7:00 pm for a 7:30 start.
