TweetFilm No. 6 – Transformers: The Movie

Hello everyone! I know it’s been a bit quiet on the TweetFilm front since July. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to bring you the next stage of TweetFilm, and here it is. We are proud to announce that if you live in Melbourne, TweetFilm will now be running free screening events at Loop in the CBD! Following on from the success of our screening at this year’s Emerging Writers’ Festival, this is the next stage in TweetFilm’s evolution. So, what film has been chosen? Why, it’s none other than…

The 1986 animated classic! No Shia! No Fox! No Bay! But plenty of Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy and Orson Welles, what more could you want? In glorious 2-D!

Get to Loop at 7, because we’ll be TweetFilming from 7:30 pm sharp, Wednesday September 14. One hashtag shall stand, one shall fall. The standing one will be:

#tftransformers

(The one that falls will be something to do with Justin Bieber)

Loop is located at 23 Meyers Place, at the Parliament end of Bourke St.

Not in Melbourne, or can’t get there but still want to take part? No problem! We’ll be synchronising our start time with timeanddate.com’s Melbourne page as usual, so you can take part at home. Special thanks go out to Madman, the distributors of Transformers: The Movie on DVD, for generously giving us permission to screen the film. If you don’t own a copy you can get it through their website by clicking on their logo below.

I’d also like to add a quick shout-out to another live-tweeting film event taking place in Melbourne, the newly begun #AstorTweet! If you’re unfamiliar with The Astor, it’s a beautiful piece of Melbourne cinema history that was first opened 75 years ago and is still going strong. AstorTweet is brought to you by Popcorn Cinema and Ben Pobjie, and the first event (a double feature of Withnail & I with Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas) was a fantastic evening; I look forward to more in the future.

So that’s everyone caught up, any more questions? No? Remember, check out our how-to page if you’re watching at home, or if that’s too complicated then just come to Loop on Wednesday September 14 and I’ll take care of it for you. Here are the requisite links:
